Statement of intent

My music video will be tailored to my target audience in order to reach out to and relate to listeners. I will do this by making my music video appropriate for a 16-25 year old, fun loving listener. In the music video itself the narrative of the video will focus around the main feature of the video and how them and their friends are always having a good time and through this they don’t need anyone else asides the friends they are always with. The song ‘if I cant have you’ is focussed around a love story and how Mendes cant do anything without her, however for my music video in order to fit with my targeted audience the music video will focus around all the good times they have with their friends such as all going out to each other’s houses, the video will mix between performance and the narrative of friends playing together with things such as football and video games. The performance will happen separately to the video to avoid confusion and in front of a fairly natural background which does not draw attention away from the artist. To allow for an anti stereotype the friendship group will include people from different backgrounds, this including the main actor for my video having a visible disability to allow for all demographics of my target audience to relate. So I will have them round a friends house in one of the shots when they’re all together and the male friends can be cooking the food to break the old stereotype of women being the cooks and then while this happens have all the girls playing on games consoles, creating a clear range of friends which is not your stereotypical group which all fit in the same class. The overall presentation of this group will not be the main focus of the camera as by using depth of field the focus will be on the artist with shots of the friends integrated within the video.

For the website, in order to allow for intertextuality, the website will contain a take on a photo shoot which will include all the main artist and him laughing and also looking directly to camera. To highlight the artist and also his disabilities which i plan to be a key focus throughout, some photos will have the background completely removed and also others will use depth of field to make the artist their focus, which allows for their backgrounds to be explained without having to make it feel un-natural in the music video. The website will follow a colour scheme which suits the logo I create for my artist, which will be prominently placed above the music video which will be linked onto my webpage and allows it to play when you go on the page. to finalise the link between the video and the website will be to take the required photos at the key locations in the music video and in the end of the music video and behind the scenes clip we will see the logo for a foundation that I will create that focuses around diversity, which will have a donation page on the website. the behind the scenes clip does not have a set time limit and therefore at the end of the said video will allow for me to talk about what the foundation is about and why my artist has decided to sponsor them and about donating profits to said foundations. To fit with the young audience which live their lives online, the website will link to all the major different social media’s and have a live ‘share your story’ feed integrated at the bottom of the homepage which shows all the artist mentions. The website will follow an abstract design which means that focus will be brought to the media conventions themselves will the modern logo being entwined in the home bar which allows easy access to both the home page and a direct link straight to the video, all of which appeal to my target audience. To create an additional set of Audio-visual content as I film the music video I will put a camera behind so you can see a 'behind the scenes' of the video being created which will be a medium shot of key scenes being filmed and setting up the scenes such as telling people where to stand and also outtakes from shots which i could not use, either because we forget the scene or if someone messes it up, however these will not be staged therefore the original plan for the BTS will be have someone filming me film the video.
