Lyrics/music timing
In this section of the music video we see everyone arriving at the house, the music begins slow however picks up quickly so in this section we see faster cuts that fit the beat of the song while the friends arrive.
“I cant write one song that’s not about you, cant drink without thinking about you, is it too late to tell you that everything means nothing if I cant have you”

0:00 – 0:15
In this timeframe we see the first obvious anti-stereotype in which the boys are cooking and preparing the food and the girls are sat in the other room playing on computer games. The shots will be edited to allow for a fast paced feel to the video which will cut clips in order to allow for the audience to jump from scene to scene without harsh transitions. We also see everyone entering the main location for the music video which is the garden just before the pace of the music video becomes more upbeat.
“I’m in Toronto and I got this view, but I might as well be in a hotel room, yeah, it doesn’t matter ‘cause I’m so consumed, spending all my nights reading texts from you, oh Im good at keeping my distance, I know that you’re the feeling I’m missing, you know that I hate to admit it.”

0:19 – 0:46
As this is the chorus (most upbeat part of song) we see all aspects of the plot line develop and begin to take place with an extreme long shot across the garden with all the activities taking place with the main artist also lip syncing to the chorus as the plot line is about how important their friends are and what they do without them in order to create a relatable plot line for the audience as everyone has such a group of friends in which they would relate to from this story line. We also see the film progress to the next scene with POV shots of everyone in the car going to the next scene
“But everything means nothing if I cant have you, I cant write one song that’s not about you, cant drink without thinking about you, is it too late to tell you that, everything means nothing if I cant have you, I cant write one song that’s not about you, cant drink without thinking about you, is it too late to tell you that, everything means nothing if I cant have you”

0:46 – 1:21
This is the main section of the music video in which we see the artist focussed in by camera and the plot progressing in the background. This allows for a performance element in the video and also to show that without the friends the artist is always with they may feel distanced, so following this they then cut between the performances to show them being involved with the activities. We also see cuts from both of my main locations and it switches between the two to allow for the feel that they spend all their time together and do everything together as friends.
“I'm so sorry that my timing's off
But I can't move on if we're still gonna talk, Is it wrong for me to not want half? I want all of you, all the strings attached, Oh, I'm good at keepin' my distance, I know that you're the feelin' I'm missing, You know that I hate to admit, it, But everything means nothin' if I can't have you”

1:21 – 1:52
In this section of the music video I will try to mix diegetic sound into the video where the song itself pauses but continues in the car and when they open the car doors the actual music begins playing, this follows a more stereotypical pop idea as most pop videos will at some point have a pause in the music for a line of speech or at the start for the music video, where as mine will show that the friends all listen to the song and that they all feel the same about doing everything together. Once back all the characters return to their original role of either playing the games or tidying up from earlier.
“I can't write one song that's not about you, Can't drink without thinkin' about you, Is it too late to tell you that, Everything means nothing if I can't have you? I can't write one song that's not about you, Can't drink without thinkin' about you, Is it too late to tell you that, Everything means nothing if I can't have you?”

1:52- 2:23
Here we see the friends settling in the evening at this point returning to a more ‘stereotypical’ gathering where they gather around and sit and have a laugh and talk, before beginning to head home. These shots will commence in the evening in order to allow for the feeling of continuity in the video and progression of time.
“I'm trying to move on, Forget you, but I hold on, Everything means nothing, Everything means nothing, babe, I'm trying to move on
Forget you, but I hold on, Everything means nothing if I can't have you, no
2:23 -2:38
The end of the music video will result in a panning shot to where the music video began in which both the music and image fade to show the logos and then about the charity my artist sponsors in order to allow for intertextually in my website and video.
“can't write one song that's not about you
Can't drink without thinkin' about you
Is it too late to tell you that
Everything means nothing if I can't have you?
